I'm 33 and not ready for kids yet. Should I freeze my eggs now?

Egg freezing preserves eggs at your current age, which is why it works best when done younger — ideally before about 35, with results declining after that. It's a form of fertility insurance, not a guarantee: the chance of a future baby depends on your age at freezing and how many eggs are stored; doctors often discuss freezing 10–20 mature eggs, which can take more than one cycle. It involves about two weeks of hormone injections, scans and a short egg-collection procedure, plus ongoing storage fees. Get an AMH and antral follicle count to estimate how you might respond, and ask about the clinic's thaw and survival rates and total costs over 5–10 years.
